MOBILITY CONSULTANT | URBAN STRATEGIST
Mark works as a Principal Transport Planner and Mobility Consultant for Buro Happold, a global engineering consultancy. He has both a design and economics background, which enables him to understand deeply the problem spaces of his clients, be they architecture firms, cities, and development companies. He works on international mobility projects at the intersection of masterplanning and transport planning. His project experience is across all scales and all transport modes. As a passionate cyclist and explorer of cities on foot Mark has developed a specialisation in active travel and street design.
Following business school Mark had a ten year career working as an advisor for a global investment bank. His interest in sustainability and urbanism emerged while cycling round the world during a sabbatical. Having experienced vast landscapes and diverse cities, as well as ecological and social problems, Mark changed careers to make a positive impact. He returned to university and graduated with an A grade from the urban design and urban planning studio at the Aarhus School of Architecture in Denmark.
As an independent thinker Mark uses a research-oriented and analytical approach to deliver original insights, thoughtful strategies, and big visions that unite stakeholders. Mark is an exceptional communicator and very comfortable presenting his ideas in verbal, written and graphical formats. He is adept at making complexity comprehensible and is often praised for his writing ability and presentation skills. His broad skill set and global perspective make him a great addition to international, multidisciplinary teams.
